On Sunday, 04.09.2022, we finally had the opportunity to get back into the rowing boat after a long forced break and compete in the regatta "Rowing against Cancer". The charity regatta Rowing Against Cancer, which was organized by the foundation "Living with Cancer", has made it its mission to raise funds to provide sports programs and sports therapies for cancer patients. After our team was assembled, our training began at the Halleschen Ruder-Club e.V. Many thanks to the coaches and supporters there, who were very busy due to the high number of team registrations this year. After three training sessions, in which we could refresh our rowing skills, the day of the regatta came closer and closer. The goal was to perform at our best. In the first race we rowed a very good time, unfortunately our opponent was very strong and we failed very narrowly to enter directly into the semifinals. However, we did not give up and were confident that we would reach the semifinals through the heat. So the team, consisting of Maximilian Steiger, Philipp Albrecht, Silke Grote and Dominic Reichert, gathered again and went back into the boat. Despite full concentration and drive, we had starting difficulties due to a collision with an opposing rowing boat and were unable to catch up over the 250-meter regatta course. Accordingly, once again only two seconds separated us from entering the semifinals. Of course, the disappointment was big at first, but we quickly decided to win the next regattas :). Many thanks to the Kinderplaneten, under whose flag we sailed, for making the repeated participation possible!
