The children's planet has been around for several decades now. Now it has been expanded to include a new planet:
On Wednesday, 22.05.2024, our new sports garden “Sportplanet” was officially inaugurated. Dr. Reiner Haseloff (Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt), the Mayor of Halle Egbert Geier and Prof. Dr. Thomas Moesta (Medical Director of Halle University Hospital) were among the many prominent guests in attendance. Together with our CEO Andreas Domaske and the now 11-year-old former patient Jamil, they opened the symbolic ribbon, paving the way for new sports activities offered by the association. There are also plans to establish a sports club here in the future.
As early as 2021, our club received permission from the hospital director to use the vacant space on the hospital's neighboring property free of charge. After a lengthy planning and construction phase, a flexibly usable playing field with a basketball hoop has now been created here, offering our young patients and siblings even more opportunities for sporting activities.
Our sibling and aftercare groups were not entirely uninvolved in this project. While the sibling group and the Löwenbande collected creative name suggestions, which ultimately resulted in the name “Sportplanet”, the Stärken-stärken group picked up on their graffiti project and transformed the concrete wall into a real work of art at the last meeting.
